Description

Dunlop positioned the EP103-U Echoplex Delay as a digital recreation of the EP-3 tape echo unit, offering that unit's characteristic repeat tones without the maintenance demands of a tape cartridge system. It sat within Dunlop's effects line as a studio-grade delay pedal built around a straightforward control interface.

The EP103-U featured a hi-fi all-analog dry signal path, keeping the unaffected signal in the analog domain while the delay processing operated digitally at a 96 kHz sampling rate. A dedicated Age control allowed the owner to progressively degrade the character of the repeats, simulating the sonic behaviour of a worn tape echo unit. The pedal ran on 9 volts DC, drawing 240 mA, with an input impedance of 1 MΩ, output impedance of 100 Ω, maximum input and output levels of +5 dBV, and a noise floor of -107 dBV.
