Cort built the MR500E-BR as part of the MR Series, a line positioned around traditional acoustic construction with a focus on workmanship and solid-wood materials. The model sat within that range as a dreadnought-bodied instrument with a Venetian cutaway, and was fitted with onboard electronics to serve both live and recording use.
The top is solid spruce, braced with Advanced Scalloped X-Bracing. Back and sides are African Mahogany (Okoume), and the neck is Mahogany (Palaquium), joined to the body via a dovetail neck joint. The fretboard and bridge are both Ovangkol, with dot inlays along the board and an acryl pearl top purfling and rosette at the soundhole. The nut width is 43mm (1 11/16") and scale length is 643mm (25.3") across 20 frets. Electronics consist of a ceramic pickup feeding a Cort CE304T preamp. The guitar shipped strung with D'Addario EXP16 strings.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — including Ovangkol bridge saddles, CE304T preamp components, or nut blanks suited to a 43mm slot — should consult a qualified luthier or guitar technician familiar with acoustic instruments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
