Cort built the A5-PLUS-SC as part of the Artisan Series, positioning it as a professional-grade five-string bass with a single cutaway body shape. The single-cut configuration was introduced to the Artisan line in response to demand for a non-multi-scale variant, offering conventional aesthetics and playing feel while retaining the neck-through construction and component specification of the broader Artisan range. The single cutaway design was intended to improve body-neck balance and allow unobstructed access to the upper frets.
The bass is built on a neck-through construction with a swamp ash body and a poplar burl top. The five-piece maple and panga panga neck carries a panga panga fretboard with 24 frets, a 15.75" (400mm) radius, and a 34" (864mm) scale length. Hardware throughout is finished in black and includes Hipshot® Ultralite machineheads and a Hipshot® TransTone bridge. Pickup and electronics duties are handled by a Bartolini® MK-1 system. The instrument ships strung with D'Addario® YB-XL 170 strings.
Owners seeking setup guidance, fretwork, or hardware replacement should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier familiar with neck-through bass construction; the Hipshot® and Bartolini® components use those manufacturers' standard dimensions and are serviceable through their respective parts ecosystems.

What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
