Cort built the A4 Plus FMMH-OPN as the reference instrument in its Artisan Series bass line, positioned toward the working professional who required consistent performance across extended use. The model sat at the upper tier of the Artisan range, distinguished by its neck-thru-body construction, premium tonewoods, and Bartolini active electronics.
The bass features a figured maple top over a mahogany (Palaquium) body, with a five-piece maple and panga panga neck running through to the body. The panga panga fretboard carries 24 frets with abalone inlay across a 864mm (34") scale. Hardware throughout is finished in platinum and sourced from Hipshot — Ultralite machine heads at the headstock and a Trans Tone bridge at the body. The string-thru and up-load construction options are accommodated by that bridge. Bartolini MK-1 pickups feed a Bartolini MK-1 EQ preamp. The instrument is strung for four strings.
