The sustain block sits below the base plate and takes the load from the springs. When the original cracks, corrodes, or you are chasing a change in attack character, the block is what you replace. This is a Floyd Rose factory block for the SpeedLoader tremolo system, nickel-plated brass, 35mm. The SpeedLoader is a distinct platform from the Original and the Special — a block made for one will not drop into another.

Block length decides whether this part physically works in your guitar. Too long and the block hits the cavity floor before the bridge reaches pitch on a dive. Too short and the springs pull at the wrong angle and the bridge will not return consistently. Measure your cavity clearance and your existing block before ordering. The mounting screw pattern also has to match the SpeedLoader base plate — if your base plate is not a SpeedLoader, this block does not fit regardless of how the dimensions look.

Nickel-plated brass is the stock material for this system. Brass transmits energy differently from steel or titanium — the attack rounds off slightly and the sustain tail tends to be fuller. That character stays consistent as long as the block fits and seats flush. A block that bottoms out or sits proud will kill sustain and throw off the return-to-pitch no matter what it is made from.
