Ibanez built the AS73TBC as part of the AS Series, positioning it as a hollow body electric guitar within the Artcore line. The model carried the Tobacco Brown finish and sat in a range designed to bring hollow body construction to a broad audience of players.
The AS73TBC was built around a Linden top, back and sides, paired with a set-in Nyatoh neck of the AS Artcore profile. The bound Walnut fretboard featured acrylic block inlays across 22 medium frets, with a 305mm radius and a 628mm (24.7") scale length. The nut measured 43mm in width, with a neck thickness of 21mm at the first fret and 24mm at the ninth. Body depth reached a maximum of 2 5/8". Hardware was finished in chrome throughout, and included a Gibraltar Performer bridge with 10.5mm string spacing and a Quik Change III tailpiece. Pickup duties were handled by a pair of passive, ceramic-magnet Classic Elite humbucker pickups at neck and bridge positions. The guitar left the factory strung to standard tuning with a .010–.052 gauge set.
Owners requiring setup work, fret service or parts sourcing for the Gibraltar Performer bridge, Quik Change III tailpiece or Classic Elite pickups should consult a qualified guitar technician, who can identify compatible replacements using the specifications above.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
