Ibanez built the AZ2402LTFF as part of the AZ Prestige Series, positioning it at the upper tier of their production electric guitar line. The AZ Prestige Series represented Ibanez's domestic-grade craftsmanship applied to a double-humbucker, tremolo-equipped platform aimed at players demanding professional-specification components throughout.
The guitar is constructed with an alder body and carries an AZ Oval C profile neck and fretboard both fashioned from S-TECH WOOD roasted maple — a thermally treated timber process Ibanez applied to this series for enhanced stability and a satin-like feel. Twenty-four jumbo stainless steel frets sit over the roasted maple board with black dot inlays, and Ibanez's Prestige fret edge treatment was applied to the binding shelf. The 648mm (25.5-inch) scale runs to a bone nut at 42mm width. Neck dimensions are 20.5mm thick at the first fret and 22.5mm at the twelfth, widening to 57mm at the twenty-fourth fret, over a 305mm radius board. Electronics consist of a Seymour Duncan Hyperion humbucker at the neck and a second Hyperion humbucker at the bridge, both passive Alnico units. The Gotoh T1802 tremolo bridge is spaced at 10.5mm and all hardware is finished in chrome. The instrument left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL110s (.010–.046) in standard tuning.
