Ibanez built the TMB100TFB as part of the Talman Bass series, positioning it as an entry-level four-string electric bass. The model carried the Talman name, a designation Ibanez applied to a distinct body silhouette within its broader instrument line.
The bass was constructed with a poplar body and a maple neck designated TMB4, topped with a jatoba fretboard carrying white dot inlays across 20 medium frets. The scale length ran 864mm (34 inches), and the nut width measured 41mm, widening to 62mm at the twentieth fret. Neck thickness measured 21.5mm at the first fret and 24.5mm at the twelfth, with a 240mm radius fretboard. A Dynamix P pickup sat at the neck position and a Dynamix J pickup at the bridge, both passive. Onboard tone shaping was handled by an Ibanez Custom Electronics 2-band EQ. The B10 bridge offered 19mm string spacing and was finished in chrome, consistent with all hardware on the instrument. The bass left the factory strung with .045/.065/.085/.105 gauges in standard E-A-D-G tuning.
Owners sourcing replacement parts should note that the 19mm string spacing at the bridge and 34-inch scale are the most critical measurements for bridge and string compatibility.
