Ibanez built the TMB105BK as part of the Talman Bass series, a five-string electric bass positioned in the brand's entry-to-mid tier offering. The model carried the designation TMB105 with a Black finish, sitting within a line designed to deliver a straightforward passive and active-EQ hybrid feature set at an accessible point in the Talman range.
The TMB105BK was constructed with a Poplar body and a Maple neck carrying a Jatoba fretboard with White dot inlays, 20 medium frets, and a 240mm radius. The scale length ran 864mm (34 inches), with a nut width of 45mm, widening to 72mm at the twentieth fret; neck thickness measured 21.5mm at the first fret and 24.5mm at the twelfth. Pickup configuration paired a passive Dynamix P at the neck with a passive Dynamix J at the bridge, fed through an Ibanez Custom Electronics 2-band EQ. The B15W bridge offered 18mm string spacing, and all hardware was finished in Chrome. The instrument was factory-tuned B–E–A–D–G across its five strings, with a string gauge of .045/.065/.085/.105/.130.
Owners seeking replacement parts — including bridge saddles compatible with the B15W, Dynamix-series pickup substitutes, or nut stock matched to the 45mm width — should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier for sourcing and fitting guidance.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
