Ibanez built the TMB100MGR as part of the Talman bass series, positioning it as an entry-level four-string electric bass. The model carried the Talman line's distinctive aesthetic alongside a practical, player-oriented specification intended for beginners and developing bassists.
The TMB100MGR is constructed with a poplar body and a maple neck finished with a jatoba fretboard bearing white dot inlays. Twenty medium frets are cut across a 240mm radius board, with a nut width of 41mm tapering to 62mm at the twentieth fret; neck thickness measures 21.5mm at the first fret and 24.5mm at the twelfth. The 34-inch scale runs to a B10 bridge with 19mm string spacing. Pickup duties are handled by a passive Dynamix P at the neck and a passive Dynamix J at the bridge, fed into an Ibanez Custom Electronics 2-band EQ. Hardware throughout is finished in chrome. The instrument left the factory strung with .045/.065/.085/.105 gauges in standard E-A-D-G tuning.
Owners sourcing replacement parts should note that the B10 bridge, Dynamix pickups, and 2-band EQ preamp are Ibanez-specific components; a qualified guitar technician or luthier will be best placed to advise on compatible substitutes and setup adjustments for this instrument.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
