Ibanez produced the SR305EMSS as part of the SR (Soundgear) Series, a line built around slim, fast-playing bass necks and active electronics. The five-string configuration positioned it toward players requiring an extended lower range within the SR family.
The bass was built around a Nyatoh body paired with a five-piece Maple/Walnut SR5 neck — a laminated construction Ibanez employed in the SR line for added rigidity. The Jatoba fretboard carries white dot inlays and medium frets, with a 305mm radius across its 34-inch scale. Nut width measures 45mm, widening to 68mm at the 24th fret; neck thickness runs 19.5mm at the first fret and 21.5mm at the twelfth. The 16.5mm string spacing at the Accu-cast B125 bridge is notably tight for a five-string. Passive PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups at neck and bridge feed into Ibanez's own three-band EQ circuit, which includes a three-way Power Tap switch for coil-configuration options. All hardware is finished in Cosmo black.
Owners seeking setup adjustments, fret work, or replacement components compatible with the Accu-cast B125 bridge or PowerSpan pickup routing should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
