Ibanez built the SR305EBWK as a five-string entry in the SR (Soundgear) Series, positioning it as a slim, fast-playing bass aimed at players stepping up to extended range. The SR line was characterised by its emphasis on thin neck profiles and lightweight construction, and the SR305E sat in the more accessible tier of that family.
The bass was constructed with a Nyatoh body and a five-piece Maple/Walnut SR5 neck, with a Jatoba fretboard carrying white dot inlays and medium frets. The 34-inch scale runs to 864mm, with a 45mm nut width tapering to 68mm at the 24th fret; neck thickness measures 19.5mm at the first fret and 21.5mm at the twelfth, over a 305mm radius. String spacing at the bridge is 16.5mm. Pickups are a matched pair of passive PowerSpan Dual Coil units at neck and bridge positions, fed into Ibanez's own Custom Electronics 3-band EQ with a 3-way Power Tap switch — a passive pickup array running through an active preamp circuit. The Accu-cast B125 bridge and all remaining hardware are finished in black.
