Cort built the GB34-JJ-3TS as part of the GB Series bass line, a range that occupied a central position in Cort's bass catalogue across multiple tiers — from entry-level instruments through to options aimed at working professionals. In 2017, Cort relaunched the GB line with revised features and updated design treatments, and the GB34-JJ sits within that generation of the series.
The bass is built on a poplar body with a bolt-on Canadian hard-maple neck and a jatoba fretboard with a 240 mm (9.45") radius and dot inlays across 20 frets. Scale length is 864 mm (34"), the long scale standard for electric bass. Jazz-style pickups feed into an active 2-band electronics circuit, giving the player boost and cut over the frequency range without relying solely on the passive output of the pickups. Hardware throughout is chrome, including open-gear tuners and a vintage-style bridge.
