Cort built the GB64-JJ-NAT as part of its GB Series, positioning it as a J-Bass-style electric bass with active electronics layered over a traditionally styled platform. The model sat in the GB line as a spec-enhanced iteration, introducing active circuitry while preserving the classic visual character associated with the series.
The body was constructed from swamp ash, mated to a bolt-on roasted Canadian hard maple neck with a matching roasted maple fretboard at a 9.45" (240mm) radius. Roasting treatment — carried over from Cort's B4/B5 ASRM models — was cited for improved stability and a more vintage character in both appearance and tone. The bass runs 20 frets over a 34" (864mm) scale and is strung with D'Addario YB-XL165 strings from the factory. Hardware is finished in chrome throughout, with open-gear tuners and a vintage-style bridge. The Voiced Tone VTB-ST pickups feed an active/passive circuit controlled by one volume, one blend, and a two-band EQ; a push-pull pot on the circuit allows the player to switch between active and passive operation.
