Washburn built the EA15ITB-A-U as part of the Festival Series, a line the company developed to address the needs of performing musicians. According to Washburn, the Festival Series had been in production for over 25 years and became a recognisable fixture on MTV's Unplugged series. The EA15ITB-A-U is a cutaway mini jumbo acoustic-electric, finished in Ice Tea Burst gloss.
The top is flame maple, with catalpa back and sides and quarter-sawn scalloped Sitka spruce bracing. The mahogany neck features a two-way truss rod and carries a 25-1/2" scale length, 20 frets on an engineered wood fretboard with dot inlays, and a 1-11/16" Graphtech NuBone nut. Electronics are handled by the Barcus-Berry EQ4T preamp system, with controls for volume, bass, mid, treble, notch and presence, plus a built-in tuner. Hardware throughout is chrome, including diecast tuners, and the faux-abalone rosette and engineered wood bridge complete the feature set. The guitar shipped strung with D'Addario EXP-16 light phosphor bronze strings.
