Washburn built the EA10B-A-U as part of its Festival Series, a line the company stated was designed to address the needs of the performing musician and had sustained for over 25 years of production. The Festival Series carried a notable presence in the acoustic-electric market, appearing on MTV's Unplugged series and establishing itself as a reference point in the segment. The EA10B-A-U is a petite jumbo, single-cutaway, six-string acoustic-electric finished in gloss black.
The body is constructed from basswood on the top, back, and sides, braced with quarter-sawn scalloped Sitka spruce. The mahogany neck, fitted with a two-way truss rod, meets a 20-fret engineered wood fretboard at a 24-inch scale length. The Graphtech Nubone nut measures 1-11/16 inches wide, and dot inlays mark the fretboard positions. Electronics are handled by a Barcus-Berry EQ4T preamp system with volume, bass, mid, treble, notch, and presence controls alongside a built-in tuner. Hardware throughout is chrome, including diecast tuners, and the rosette is faux-abalone. The guitar shipped strung with a D'Addario EXP-16 light phosphor bronze set.
Owners sourcing replacement parts should note that the Graphtech Nubone nut width of 1-11/16 inches and the 24-inch scale length are the relevant dimensions for nut and string compatibility respectively. For setup, intonation, or electronics service, a qualified guitar technician or luthier will be best placed to advise on components specific to the Barcus-Berry EQ4T system and the alternative-style bridge.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
