Keeley positioned the KWSMOD-U Super Mod Workstation as a dual-engine modulation pedal, designed to run two effects simultaneously from its onboard banks. It sat at the complex end of Keeley's effects line, bringing together a wide range of modulation types — tremolo, harmonic tremolo, filter, phaser, chorus, rotary speaker, ADT (Automatic Double Tracker), flanger, analog delay, echo, plate reverb, and hall reverb — into a single unit controlled via tap tempo and an external expression pedal input.

The pedal was built around two independently selectable banks, each drawing from the same pool of effect types, allowing combinations such as ADT paired with flanger, phaser paired with delay, or analog delay paired with hall reverb. The harmonic tremolo circuit was described as inspired by vintage brown face amps, sharing lineage with Keeley's earlier DynaTrem unit. The ADT section derived from Keeley's standalone 30ms Automatic Double Tracker. The expression pedal input could be assigned to parameters such as rotary speaker speed or delay feedback, including self-oscillation. Tap tempo was available for rate-sensitive effects including the harmonic tremolo.
