Keeley built the KFIL-U Filaments as its most gain-intensive distortion pedal, positioning it explicitly as a high-gain metal stompbox within the Keeley Electronics effects line. Its design brief was to replicate the saturation characteristic of high-gain tube amplifiers through a stacked, multi-stage gain architecture.
The Filaments ran three stages of gain internally and offered seven tone-shaping controls: Level, Gain, Bass, Body, Presence, Bright, and Treble. The Bass and Body controls were designed to manage low-end weight and tightness regardless of the connected speaker cabinet size, allowing the owner to add punch through smaller speakers or tighten the response through larger rigs. Two footswitch-style options — Boost and Crunch — provided discrete gain and compression levels for additional saturation and edge. The Presence and Bright controls worked in tandem to add upper-frequency definition across different guitar and pickup combinations, while the Treble control offered a further range of high-frequency adjustment.
Owners needing setup guidance, control calibration, or internal service should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with effects pedal electronics.

What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
