Description

Dunlop produced the MC402-U as part of the MXR CAE series, combining two discrete signal-processing circuits in a single pedal unit: a Boost/Line Driver section and an overdrive section. It was positioned as a dual-function tool for players requiring both clean signal boosting and driven tones from one compact enclosure.

The pedal's Boost circuit delivered 20 dB of gain with an output impedance below 150 Ω when engaged, while the overdrive circuit — described as punchy and dynamic — presented an output impedance below 15 kΩ with the Boost switched off. Input impedance was rated at 1 kΩ. The signal-to-noise ratio was specified at greater than 87 dB, and current draw ran below 5.5 mA from a DC power supply. Switching was handled via true hardwire bypass, preserving the unaffected signal path when the pedal was disengaged.
