DigiTech positioned the DOD Carcosa as an analog fuzz pedal offering a wide range of fuzz characters from a single unit. It carried forward the DOD name on a circuit built around a bias control labelled AFTER and a two-position toggle, giving the pedal its breadth of available tones.
The Carcosa's AFTER bias control combined with the two toggle positions produced tones described by the original documentation as ranging from full and compressed to heavily degraded and asymmetric. The circuit was voiced with an exaggerated mid-range and treble character, intended to maintain note articulation in dense mix contexts while also allowing extreme bias settings for more unstable fuzz behaviour. The pedal runs on a 9VDC alkaline battery or an optional HARMAN PS0913DC power adapter, draws 4 mA, and is fitted with true bypass switching. Input impedance is 500 kΩ on a standard 1/4" TS unbalanced jack; output impedance is 1 kΩ on a matching 1/4" TS unbalanced jack.
