The screws sit at the back of the nut housing and take the full clamping load every time string tension tries to pull the nut forward. Stainless steel resists the corrosion that eats the original plated screws over years of sweat and humidity — stripped or rusted rear mounting screws are a common reason a nut won't clamp evenly. Before ordering, confirm that these screws match your existing nut housing. The screws are specific to the rear-mount position on Floyd Rose locking nuts. Fit depends on the nut itself fitting your neck correctly: a locking nut has to match both the width of the neck at the nut slot and the fretboard radius. Too flat a radius and the outer strings sit proud of the nut face; too narrow a nut and the strings crowd the edge of the fretboard. Floyd Rose sizes its nuts by width codes — R2, R3, R4 and so on — so measure your existing nut rather than guessing from the guitar model name. These screws only solve the problem if the nut housing they're going into is already the right fit for your neck.

Stainless steel work-hardens rather than corroding, which matters here because rear mounting screws are recessed and awkward to inspect. A corroded screw can seize in the headstock or snap during removal. Replacing them at the first sign of surface rust is cheaper than extracting a broken screw.
