Washburn built the HB35NK as part of its Semi-Hollowbody Series, positioning it as a thinline-style electric aimed at players seeking the acoustic resonance of a hollow construction paired with the output and feedback resistance of dual humbuckers. The model carried a natural gloss finish and gold hardware throughout.
The body combined a flame maple top with plain maple back and sides. The hard maple neck carried a rosewood fretboard with 22 frets, pearl and abalone split-block inlays, and a 43 mm Graphtech Nubone nut. Scale length ran 24.75 inches. Electronics consisted of two Washburn-branded humbuckers controlled by two volume and two tone pots feeding a three-way toggle selector.
