Ibanez built the RG8WH as an eight-string entry in the long-running RG Series, positioning it for players requiring the extended lower register that an additional string provides over a standard six-string instrument. The guitar shipped in White.
The neck is a five-piece Maple/Walnut Wizard II-8 construction, joining a Meranti body and carrying a Jatoba fretboard with White dot inlays across 24 jumbo frets. The 686mm/27" scale accommodates the factory tuning — 1D♯, 2A♯, 3F♯, 4C♯, 5G♯, 6D♯, 7A♯, 8F — and the strings supplied are D'Addario EXL120-7+.065, gauged .009/.011/.016/.024/.032/.042/.054/.065. Both pickups are IBZ-8 humbuckers in passive/ceramic configuration, one at the neck and one at the bridge. Hardware throughout is finished in Black, including the F108 bridge, which uses 10.5mm string spacing. Neck dimensions measure 55mm width at the nut, 80mm at the 24th fret, 20mm thickness at the first fret, and 21.5mm at the 12th fret, with a 400mmR fretboard radius.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — strings, the F108 bridge saddles, or pickup hardware — should confirm compatibility against these specifications; a qualified guitar technician can assist with setup, intonation, and any hardware fitting on an eight-string instrument of this scale and string spacing.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
