Ibanez built the RG8570ZBSR as part of the RG J.Custom series, positioning it at the upper tier of the RG line where Japanese craftsmanship standards and premium tonewoods were the defining characteristics. The model carried the Brownish Sphalerite designation, referencing its figured top finish.
The guitar was constructed with an African Mahogany body topped with a 4mm AAA Flamed Maple cap. The neck was a five-piece Maple and Wenge Super Wizard RG j.custom profile, finished with a bound Macassar Ebony fretboard carrying a Tree of Life inlay and 24 jumbo frets with j.custom fret edge treatment. The 648mm (25.5") scale ran across a nut width of 43mm, tapering to 58mm at the 24th fret, with neck thicknesses of 17mm at the first fret and 19mm at the 12th. Fretboard radius measured 430mmR. Hardware throughout was finished in Cosmo Black, centered on an Edge-Zero tremolo bridge with ZPS3 and a 10.8mm string spacing. The pickup complement was a DiMarzio HSH configuration: an Air Norton (Alnico, passive) at the neck, a True Velvet single-coil (Alnico, passive) in the middle, and The Tone Zone (Alnico, passive) at the bridge. The guitar left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL120s (.009–.042).
Owners requiring setup work, tremolo calibration, or sourcing of replacement parts such as Edge-Zero saddles, ZPS3 components, or DiMarzio-format pickups should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with double-locking or floating tremolo systems.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
