Ibanez built the JS240PSCA as part of its JS Signature Series, positioning it as a production-line entry into the Joe Satriani signature platform. The model carried the core architectural choices of the JS line — a multi-piece neck construction, a sustain-focused electronics configuration centered on the Sustainiac system, and the Edge tremolo — at a tier designed to bring those features within reach of a broader player base.
The body is American Basswood. The neck is a three-piece Maple and Purpleheart construction reinforced with KTS Titanium rods, joining a Panga Panga fretboard with white dot inlays, 24 medium frets with premium edge treatment, and a 250mm radius. The nut width is 42mm, widening to 56mm at the 24th fret; neck thickness runs 20mm at the first fret and 22.3mm at the twelfth. Scale length is 648mm (25.5 inches). String spacing at the bridge is 10.8mm. The Edge tremolo bridge and all hardware are finished in chrome. At the neck position sits a passive ceramic Sustainiac Driver single-coil; the bridge carries a passive Alnico DiMarzio Satchur8 humbucker. The guitar left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL120s (.009–.042) in standard E tuning.
