Ibanez positioned the SR300ECCB within the SR (Soundgear) Series as a passive-pickup, active-EQ electric bass, sitting in the mid-tier of the SR family. The model was built around the SR design philosophy of a slim, fast neck profile intended to reduce playing fatigue and suit players moving between bass and guitar.
The bass was constructed with a Nyatoh body and a five-piece Maple/Walnut SR4 neck, with a Jatoba fretboard carrying white dot inlays and medium frets. The 34-inch scale runs to a 38mm nut width, tapering through a neck profile of 19.5mm at the first fret and 21.5mm at the twelfth. The fretboard radius is 305mm. Two passive PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups — one at the neck, one at the bridge — feed an Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ equipped with a 3-way Power Tap switch, which allowed the player to alter the coil configuration of the pickups without swapping hardware. The Accu-cast B120 bridge has a 19mm string spacing. All hardware was finished in Cosmo black.
Owners sourcing replacement parts should note that the Accu-cast B120 bridge accepts standard saddle and string-through hardware dimensioned to its 19mm spacing, and the Jatoba fretboard takes standard medium fretwire. A qualified guitar technician or luthier can advise on compatible replacement components and setup adjustments specific to this instrument.
