Ibanez built the GSRM20RBM as part of the miKro Series, a line of short-scale electric basses positioned for players requiring a reduced-scale instrument. The GSRM20RBM occupied an entry-level slot within the miKro range, finished in Root Beer Metallic.
The bass was constructed with a poplar body and a maple neck designated GSRM4, topped with a jatoba fretboard carrying white dot inlays and medium frets. The 726mm/28.6" scale length is the defining structural characteristic of the miKro platform. Nut width measures 38mm, widening to 58.5mm at the 22nd fret, with neck thickness running 21mm at the first fret and 22mm at the twelfth. The fretboard radius is 305mm. A Dynamix P pickup sits at the neck position and a Dynamix J at the bridge, both passive. The B10 bridge sets string spacing at 19mm. All hardware is finished in chrome.
