Ibanez built the GSRM20BK as part of the miKro Series, a short-scale electric bass line positioned for players requiring a reduced-length instrument. With a 726mm (28.6") scale length, the miKro sat below standard bass scale lengths in the Ibanez catalogue, making it a practical option for players with smaller hands or those seeking a compact travel instrument.
The GSRM20BK was constructed with a poplar body and a maple neck bearing the GSRM4 profile, topped with a jatoba fretboard dressed with white dot inlays and medium frets. The nut width measured 38mm, with the fretboard widening to 58.5mm at the 22nd fret; neck thickness ran 21mm at the first fret and 22mm at the twelfth, with a 305mm radius. Pickup configuration followed a PJ layout: a passive Dynamix P at the neck and a passive Dynamix J at the bridge, routed through chrome hardware. The B10 bridge was set at 19mm string spacing.
