Ibanez produced the MR500C Road Tour as a hardshell electric guitar case designed to accommodate a broad range of bolt-on neck electric guitar body shapes, including left-handed models and extended-range instruments up to nine strings. It sat in the Ibanez case line as a travel-oriented option, and carried TSA-approved locks for checked-luggage security.
The shell is constructed from ABS material. The interior features a purpose-moulded design intended to fit guitars from the RG, RGA, RGD, RG7, RG8, RG9, S, SA, FR, RC, and TM families, as well as left-handed variants of those bodies. A dedicated Ibanez tool case is included inside. The case ships with TSA-approved latches and a long handle designed to allow repositioning of grip depending on the weight and balance of the loaded case. Interior overall length runs to 1060mm, with a lower body cavity of 450mm depth and an inner swell width of 330mm; the case weighs 5.89kg empty.
