Washburn built the T25NMK-D-U as part of its Taurus Series, positioning it as a professional-grade five-string electric bass with a neck-through construction at the core of its design. The instrument carried a Natural Matte finish and sat above the four-string T24 in the Taurus line.
The bass was constructed around a mahogany body and a maple/mahogany multi-laminate neck-through design, topped with an ebony fretboard carrying 24 frets with offset dot inlays. A Graphtech Nubone nut at 1-5/8" width feeds into a 34" scale. Two Washburn J-style pickups in a J/J configuration are governed by independent volume and tone controls for each pickup. Hardware throughout is chrome, including diecast tuners, and the bridge is a hardtail design. The instrument shipped with a D'Addario EXL170-5 light gauge string set.
