Washburn built the HG26SCE-O-U as part of its Heritage Series, positioning it as a grand auditorium cutaway acoustic-electric aimed at players who require upper-fret access without sacrificing tonal balance. The cutaway body configuration and grand auditorium shape placed it between smaller parlour instruments and the fuller dreadnought format, making it particularly suited to fingerstyle technique.
The top is solid Western Red Cedar, braced with Cathedral Peaked Scalloped-X bracing — a construction intended to develop tonal character over time.
