Schecter positioned the Ultra-III as a set-neck electric guitar built around a mahogany body and a three-piece mahogany neck, finished in Vintage Blue. The model carried a flat-top body contour with a raised centre section and sculptured edges, bound in ivory single-ply binding, and was manufactured in South Korea.
The neck joined the body via set-neck construction and carried a rosewood fretboard with pearl block inlays, a 14-inch radius, and 22 extra-jumbo frets across a 25.5-inch (648 mm) scale. The Thin 'C' neck profile measured .787 inches at the first fret and .866 inches at the twelfth. Nut duties fell to a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq unit at 1.653 inches (42 mm) wide, and the truss rod accepted a 5/32-inch (4 mm) Allen key for two-way adjustment. A Bigsby Flat Top B50 paired with a roller tune-o-matic handled vibrato and intonation, all finished in chrome hardware. Three Duncan Designed pickups — FG-101N at the neck, FG-1010M in the middle, and FG-101B at the bridge — were controlled by individual on-off-coil-split slider switches alongside a dedicated volume and tone control. Grover tuners and retro-style knobs completed the hardware complement. The Ultra-III shipped with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky strings (.010–.046); the SGR 11-UM Ultra case was sold separately.
