Description
Ibanez produced the BIGMINI as a compact chromatic tuner pedal designed to occupy minimal space on a pedalboard. It sat in Ibanez's effects line as a utility pedal aimed at players who needed accurate pitch detection without sacrificing board real estate.
The BIGMINI offered two tuning modes — needle mode and strobe mode — and an LED display rated for readability in low-light stage conditions. Its tuning range of A0 (27.50 Hz) to C8 (4186 Hz) covered instruments beyond standard six-string guitar, including the low B string of a five-string bass. Flat tuning was available in steps of one, two, three, or four semitones down, and the A4 calibration reference was adjustable between 435 Hz and 445 Hz. The unit ran on an external DC 9V adapter with negative centre pin and drew 14 mA. Signal routing used a true bypass switch, keeping the signal path as direct as possible when the pedal was disengaged.
