Ibanez positioned the T80II Troubadour II as an 80-watt acoustic guitar combo amplifier, purpose-built for acoustic instruments and voice. It carried a two-channel design — one dedicated instrument channel and one microphone channel — reflecting its intended use in live acoustic performance settings where a single unit needed to handle both a guitar and a vocal or secondary source.
The cabinet ran a closed-back configuration housing a two-driver speaker system: an 8" woofer paired with a 1" dome tweeter.
