Washburn built the SB1PTS-A-U as part of its Sonamaster series, positioning it as an entry-level electric bass aimed at players beginning their musical journey. Within the line, it carried the SB1P configuration in a Tobacco Sunburst finish, distinguished by a reverse headstock and an offset dot inlay placement described in period materials as 80s-inspired.
The bass was constructed with an alder body and a bolt-on maple neck topped with an engineered wood fretboard carrying 21 frets and dot inlays. An ABS nut at 1-5/8" width feeds a 34" scale length. The single pickup is a Washburn P-style split-coil humbucking unit wired to a straightforward one-volume/one-tone control layout. Hardware throughout is chrome, including diecast tuners and a hardtail bridge. The instrument shipped strung with a D'Addario EXL170 light-gauge set and is finished in gloss.
