Washburn built the HD80S-L-U as the Elite tier within their Heritage Series, positioning it at the upper end of that line. The instrument follows a dreadnought body shape and is configured as a left-handed six-string acoustic guitar, finished in gloss natural.
The top is solid spruce braced with a quarter-sawn scalloped X-brace pattern and carries a Washburn Heritage rosette with abalone binding. Back and sides are striped ebony in a high-gloss finish. The neck is okoume with a natural matte finish, joined to a laurel fretboard — a wood Washburn noted as similar in both appearance and hardness to East Indian rosewood — spanning 21 frets at a 25-1/2" scale. The nut is bone at 43mm width. The bridge is also laurel. Hardware throughout is chrome, with diecast tuners. Strings are D'Addario.
