Washburn built the B8K-A-U as part of its Americana Series, positioning it within a banjo-making tradition the company traces back to the late 1800s. The instrument carries a gloss natural finish and is strung with D'Addario J60+ light gauge nickel strings from the factory.
The neck and body are mahogany throughout, with a Remo head, engineered wood fretboard, and dot inlays across 22 frets. The nut is ABS at a width of 1-3/16", and the scale runs 27-1/2". Hardware is chrome throughout, including chrome diecast tuners. The bridge is maple with an ebony tip.
