Cort built the MBM-1-SL as part of its Manson Series, developed in collaboration with Matthew Bellamy — frontman and lead guitarist of Muse — and Manson Guitar Works. The model was designed to Bellamy's specifications and positioned as a signature rock guitar within the Cort line.
Construction is bolt-on, with a basswood body and a Canadian Hard Maple neck topped by an Indian Laurel fretboard. The compound-radius fretboard runs from 12" to 16" across 22 frets, and the 25.5" (648mm) scale is paired with Cort staggered locking machineheads for tuning stability. The bridge is a fully adjustable unit with a separate tailpiece. A Manson humbucker pickup set drives the signal through a straightforward control layout: one volume, one tone, and a three-way selector switch. A discrete kill button is also wired in, enabling the stutter and gating effects associated with the model. Hardware is finished in chrome throughout, and the guitar ships strung with D'Addario YB EXL 110s.
Owners requiring setup work, fret maintenance, or parts sourcing for the Manson-branded pickups or the kill-button wiring should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with the specific routing and switching configuration of this instrument.

What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
